“Think of the two major possibilities here: Either the studios owe untold millions to their talents and paying it out will decimate their stock prices, or they owe so little because there really is no money in streaming and the bubble of their entire 21st century business model will burst in spectacular fashion. And make no mistake: this is a bubble. This is the inevitable climax of a stockholder-driven hunger for infinite growth, despite the fact that, by design, such a thing cannot and should not exist. The infection of Wall Street has overwhelmed the entertainment industry beyond repair, leading to cultural vandals like David Zaslav to be appointed with the callous duty of strip-mining decades’ of artistic beauty for pennies of tax write-offs. The past and future are frivolous in comparison to the short-term demands that the line keep going up.”

ID: a comparison betwen the mobile twitter and new tumblr menu layouts. They look almost exactly the same with the twitter/tumblr logo at the top followed by: home, explore, notifications/activity, and messages. After that the exact menu options are different but still similar. End ID

i definitely think minecraft won’t be the game for everyone in the end and that’s just how things are no problem but i do think *some* people who don’t get the hype of it just need to play with their friends and build a house with them. its also for doing things like this.

for Disability pride month, Reddit is screwing over its blind users

They made it impossible for r/blind to be moderated by blind people by blocking the use of 3rd party apps like screen readers from being used on the site

Currently, blind people cannot moderate or use the site

I haven’t seen it discussed here so I’m making a post about it

Things are going great in redditland. :(

To keep it straight, they are not blocking screen readers. They are blocking third party apps that make reddit accessible with a screen readers. Their official app is not screen reader friendly, but one can be used on it. r/Blind has had meetings with reddit reps, and they refuse to acknowledge their lack of accessibility.

Reddit is prioritizing accessibility for users before moderators and won’t give a timeline on when mod tools will be accessible. (They won’t give any timeline for when they will improve accessibility either.) They won’t define what an “accessibility-focused app” is, so disabled users have no idea if they will still be able to use their preferred third party apps to access Reddit after the changes. Reddit will not provide any documentation or certification of their employees that are tasked with accessibility of the site and app. They will not detail how their accessibility audit occurred, or who did the audit. Reddit isn’t even aware how inaccessible their app is, and how the accessibility is different between the iOS and android versions.

Here’s the first post from June and here’s the latest post from July after the changes took place.

@capricorn-0mnikorn Looks like it’s officially Disablism.

~Sigh~

Angry, disappointed, but not shocked.

(Just in case anyone was wondering why we need a “Disability Pride Month” – and no, it’s not ‘cause we “Envious of the Gays™”)
